👃 Tasting Notes & Experience

Color: Bright, medium ruby moving to garnet
Nose: Red berries and florals, with the earthy notes age brings
Palate: Light-footed and perfumed, Chambolle's signature
Structure: Fine, gentle tannins
Finish: Fresh and persistent

Philippe Jouan took the domaine on in 2004, working vines his great-grandfather began buying while making barrels for a living. Three hectares across ten parcels means every cuvée is small; the Chambolle is one of five in the range, alongside a village Morey, the Gevrey Aux Echézeaux, the Clos Sorbé premier cru and a Clos Saint-Denis grand cru. Everything is picked by hand, fully destemmed and given a short, gentle cuvaison, with malolactic encouraged early to keep the wines fresh. 2013 suits that approach: a cool year with nothing exaggerated about it.
