Tenuta San Guido

Tenuta San Guido is where Sassicaia stopped being a family experiment and became one of the bottles that changed the way the world looked at Tuscan wine. Mario Incisa della Rocchetta planted Cabernet Sauvignon at Castiglioncello di Bolgheri in 1944, convinced the gravelly soils had something in common with Bordeaux’s Graves.

Sassicaia stayed private for decades before the 1968 vintage became the first released commercially. The estate never turned that success into noise: the identity is still Cabernet, Bolgheri, and a very particular stretch of land between the hills and the sea.

Our Tenuta San Guido shelf is basically a Sassicaia time machine, with multiple vintages spanning 1997 through 2020. This is collector territory, yes — but it is also one of those rare wines whose history actually earns the mythology.
