Domaine François Raveneau

Domaine François Raveneau has been a Chablis family estate since 1948, when François Raveneau married Andrée Dauvissat and the two families’ vineyard holdings came together. Jean-Marie joined the domaine in 1978, Bernard followed in 1995, and the next generation arrived with Isabelle in 2010 and Maxime in 2017. Today the family farms and vinifies 10 hectares in Chablis.

The approach is deliberately traditional: careful vineyard work, controlled yields, manual harvests, and low-intervention winemaking. The wines ferment in tank, then spend about ten months in barrel before bottling the following spring. From Petit Chablis through Premier and Grand Cru, the same obsessive attention applies.

Our Raveneau shelf goes wonderfully deep: Petit Chablis, Butteaux, Montmains, Montée de Tonnerre, La Forêt, Vaillons, Blanchot and Valmur, across vintages from 2005 through 2019. This is Chablis with zero interest in showing off — and absolutely no shortage of people trying to get a bottle.
