Marqués de Griñón

Marqués de Griñón is the pioneering wine project built around Dominio de Valdepusa in Toledo, an estate that has belonged to the family since 1292. Carlos Falcó, Marqués de Griñón, began the modern chapter in 1974, transforming the property into one of Spain’s most influential examples of estate-driven viticulture.

Dominio de Valdepusa became the first estate recognized under Spain’s Vino de Pago system in 2002. Its vineyards lie in the Montes de Toledo, where limestone-rich soils, a continental climate and strong day-night temperature shifts shape the estate. The property also became known for early adoption of precision viticulture, including drip irrigation from the 1970s and pioneering plantings of international varieties in Spain.

The producer’s identity is rooted in innovation without losing the estate itself as the center of the story: vineyard technology, detailed site work and a long family connection to the land all serve the goal of producing wines that reflect Dominio de Valdepusa as a singular place.
