Domaine Henri Jouan

Domaine Henri Jouan is a tiny family estate in Morey-Saint-Denis, rooted in four generations of vineyard work. Philippe Jouan took over from his father Henri in 2004, continuing a family story that began when his great-grandfather, a barrel-maker, started acquiring vines in the Côte de Nuits.

The domaine owns about three hectares, with parcels in Morey-Saint-Denis, Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny, and its holdings are notable for their old vines. Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru sits at the top of the range, while sites such as Clos Sorbé and Aux Echézeaux show the same small-scale, parcel-focused approach.

Jouan’s style has long been defined by understated winemaking and close vineyard work rather than by spectacle: old vines, small lots and a preference for letting the character of each site come through with as little distraction as possible.
