John Gilman gave this ninety-one points and called Aux Echézeaux a fine village Gevrey with a bit of Morey personality — fitting, since the parcel straddles the border. Eighty-year-old vines, and neighbours that include Fourrier and Dujac.

👃 Tasting Notes & Experience

• Color: Bright, medium ruby
• Nose: Cherry and strawberry with grilled meat, dark soil, fresh herbs, bonfire smoke and a touch of oak
• Palate: Deep, pure and full-bodied, with fine transparency to the soil
• Structure: Suave tannins and good focus
• Finish: Long, poised and complex

2021 was a small, difficult, cool vintage across Burgundy — frost and mildew cut volumes hard — and the successful wines are notable for precision rather than weight. Gilman found this one excellent, with real backend. The domaine is tiny and deliberately quiet: three hectares, ten parcels, a hundred-year-old wooden press, and a fifty-year habit of selling much of the production directly to Joseph Drouhin. Vines here run to eighty years, which is where the depth comes from.
