Morey-Saint-Denis sits between Gevrey to the north and Chambolle to the south, and its wines tend to borrow from both. The Jouans have been here for generations — the domaine is on a side street in the village, and Jasper Morris only found his way to it after friends organised a dinner of wines his Burgundy book had missed. For roughly fifty years the family has sold much of its production directly to Joseph Drouhin, which is part of why so little of it reaches shelves. The fruit is pressed on a hundred-year-old wooden press.
