Bodegas Rioja Vega

Bodegas Rioja Vega traces its origins to 1882, when Felipe Ugalde began making wines rooted in the traditions of Rioja. Ugalde later became a founding member and president of the Rioja Exporters Union, and in 1921 he registered the Rioja Vega name as a brand.

In 2001 the winery moved to Venta Jalón, a site between the Ebro River and the Sierra de Cantabria, a short distance from Logroño. The estate is surrounded by more than 70 hectares of vineyards planted principally with Tempranillo, Garnacha and Graciano.

Today Rioja Vega combines traditional Rioja winemaking with modern cellar equipment and detailed work across its different vineyard parcels. The range includes classic Rioja styles as well as projects focused on lesser-known historic varieties, reflecting a long-established house that continues to evolve around the character of its vineyards.
