Bodegas Martínez Lacuesta

Bodegas Martínez Lacuesta was officially founded in Haro in 1895, bringing together the commercial experience of Eloy Martínez and the pioneering spirit of his son Félix Martínez Lacuesta. More than a century later, the winery remains in the hands of the founding family and is closely woven into the development of modern Rioja.

The estate works with vineyards concentrated around Haro, generally within about twenty kilometers of the town and on the right bank of the Ebro. Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo and Viura remain central to its viticultural identity, shaped by Rioja Alta’s temperate climate, moderate rainfall and the influence of the Toloño and Cantabria mountain ranges.

Martínez Lacuesta combines long-established Rioja practices with a modern gravity-oriented winery at Paraje de Ubieta. Its philosophy is grounded in continuity: preserving techniques that still add value, evolving those that do not, and keeping Haro at the center of the producer’s identity.
