Bodegas Covila

Bodegas Covila was founded in 1989 in Lapuebla de Labarca by a group of local winegrowers who joined together around their vineyards in Rioja Alavesa. The cooperative remains closely tied to the families behind those vineyards, working with fruit from its own growers across Lapuebla de Labarca and neighboring parts of Rioja Alavesa.

Tempranillo is at the center of Covila’s reds, while Viura and other traditional Rioja varieties also play important roles across the portfolio. The winery combines Rioja Alavesa tradition with modern cellar work, producing everything from classic Rioja styles to more exploratory wines.

Altos de Lapuebla is Covila’s own high-end project, created to give selected old-vine parcels a more individual voice. Together, the winery and its related estate identities reflect a broad interpretation of Rioja Alavesa rooted in local growers and vineyard character.
