Roumier's only monopole, in the warm and generous 2018. A 2.5-hectare walled clos at the southern edge of Morey-Saint-Denis, planted by Cistercian monks in the twelfth century and never divided since.

• Soil: Clay-limestone over Bathonian rock, with noticeable oolite and a high proportion of clay
• Estate: About 11.5 hectares in total, entirely family-held with no outside investors
• Serving temperature: 15–17°C
• Style: Dry red wine

👃 Tasting Notes & Experience

• Color: Deep, saturated ruby
• Nose: Ripe black cherry and blackcurrant with smoke and dark spice
• Palate: Fleshy and powerful, the warm season adding weight to Morey's natural firmness
• Structure: Substantial tannins with real grip
• Finish: Long and dense

The clos lies directly opposite the entrance to Domaine Dujac, and in the 1930s belonged to the Graillet estate whose remnants later became Dujac. Georges Roumier bought it from the Bettenfeld family in 1953 and found it in poor condition; replanting began in 1955 and the final phase was completed in 1994. Christophe Roumier has made the wines since the mid-1980s, and his stated aim is to express each site rather than impose a house style — natural yeasts, a good share of whole bunches, judicious oak, no fining or filtration. Bussière is the firmest and chunkiest wine in a cellar otherwise known for Chambolle's perfume, and 2018's ripeness gives it unusual flesh.
