Les Chaumes lies at the southern end of Vosne, below Malconsorts. Bettane & Desseauve gave this 17 out of 20, singling out its texture and the salinity that runs through everything Maxime Cheurlin makes.

👃 Tasting Notes & Experience
• Color: Bright, medium-deep ruby

• Palate: Wonderful texture with finesse, and remarkable intensity for the cru
• Structure: Fine tannins, gently handled
• Finish: Long, with the domaine's characteristic salinity heightened here
This is a domaine that effectively did not exist in the market for twenty years: from 1990 to 2010 the entire production was sold to Louis Jadot and Joseph Drouhin. Maxime Cheurlin took over at twenty in 2010, having trained at Gros Frère et Soeur and at Emmanuel Rouget, his cousins' domaine, and he is a nephew of the Jayer family besides. His winemaking is unhurried — a cold soak, native yeasts, almost no pigeage, and oak calibrated site by site. Chaumes, which sits at the Nuits end of Vosne, is the cuvée where his emphasis on texture and salinity shows most clearly.
