Chambolle-Musigny is the most perfumed and lace-like of the Côte de Nuits villages, and it is a natural fit for Charles Lachaux's airy, low-extraction style. 2018 was a warm, generous vintage handled here with deliberate restraint.

👃 Tasting Notes & Experience

• Color: Bright, translucent ruby
• Nose: Red berries, rose and violet — the floral signature of Chambolle, amplified by whole bunches
• Palate: Silken and airy, with ripeness from the warm year held in check
• Structure: Very fine, gentle tannins
• Finish: Long, lifted and perfumed

Charles Lachaux is among the most closely watched growers of his generation, and the reasons are all visible in the vineyard: he lets the shoots run to well over two metres before trimming, leaves the ground between rows untouched, works with whole bunches and keeps extraction and new oak to a minimum. The result is a house style built on perfume and lift rather than density. Applied to Chambolle — the village where that quality is already native — it produces something notably delicate for a warm vintage.
