Côte de Beaune Power Pinot – Xavier Monnot Pommard Les Vignots 2022

Tasting Notes

In the glass: a medium-to-deep ruby color with just enough brightness to show its Burgundy pedigree.
On the nose: A “vivacious nose, a mixture of red and black fruit, and just a touch of white pepper in the background.” You’ll catch cherry, raspberry, a hint of plum, then subtle earth, wet stone and a faint spice kick.
On the palate: Balanced yet serious — the south-facing Les Vignots climat gives “typical Pommard power while its elevation of over 300 meters lends high-toned aromas and finesse.” The tannins are well-textured but not brutal, the acidity fresh, and there’s a mineral/saline streak that keeps things from getting overly fruit-bomb. Finish: lingering, refined, with fruit and tension both in play.

Meet the Winemaker

Xavier Monnot is a Burgundian craftsman in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, known for making serious wines from village and premier cru sites with clarity, precision and respect for terroir. The Les Vignots parcel in Pommard sits on an upper slope behind the village, planted on limestone/clay soils, capturing both strength and elevated finesse.
