Sassicaia 2004: Super‑Tuscan Sophistication Meets Vintage Muscle

Tasting Notes

Inky with a crimson hue, this is Sassicaia flexing with grace. The nose opens with rich blackcurrant, dried herbs, crushed stone, tobacco, violets, and cedar. On the palate: precise, linear architecture—bright acidity, lithe cassis, firm yet polished tannins, and a mineral-laced finish that echoes coastal Bolgheri. It's elegance with tension, complexity with restraint.

Meet the Winemaker

Tenuta San Guido—the OG origin of Super‑Tuscans—began in the 1960s when its founder saw Bordeaux vines in Tuscany’s gravelly Maremma and bet on excellence. Sassicaia 2004, crafted from 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc, matured for 24 months in French barriques before resting further in bottle. The result? A vintage built for sophistication and investment.
