Maison Rebel — Leclerc Briant’s Blanc de Meuniers Brut Zéro 2016

Tasting Notes

In the glass: pale straw with faint green glints — lean, crisp, ready to depart.
On the nose: wild plum, almond, orange peel, and a hint of salted bread crust.
On the palate: textured, mid-weight bubbles with flavours of lemongrass, peppermint, quince, and a finish that’s super-dry, mineral-charged, and clean as a whistle.
This isn’t party fizz — this is serious Champagne with depth.

  • “Incredibly fine and elegant, very very dry, but beautiful freshness and sweeping flavors on the finish.” — Review summary from Vivino on this cuvée.

  • “The 2016 represents a groundbreaking approach to Pinot Meunier … crafted exclusively from Premier Cru vineyards.” — Retail commentary.

  • Technical tasting note: “On the palate, the wine shows considerable body and a complex array of flavors including lemongrass, peppermint and quince.”

Food Pairings

  • Oysters on the half shell with lemon-zest — minerality meets brine.

  • Lightly seared scallops with herb butter — texture aligns.

  • Sushi (especially fatty fish like toro) — richness met with finesse.

  • Soft fresh cheeses (chèvre, burrata) with a drizzle of olive oil — counterpoint to dryness.
