The village wine from a domaine whose grand crus sit beside DRC's. Charles van Canneyt is widely held to make one of the best-value village Vosne-Romanées in Burgundy — same hands, same cellar, a fraction of the price.

👃 Tasting Notes & Experience

Color: Bright, medium ruby
Nose: Red fruit with the spice and floral character Vosne is known for
Palate: Pure and finely drawn, in the domaine's classical style
Structure: Fine tannins with fresh acidity
Finish: Long and clean

2016 was the frost year in Burgundy, and yields across the Côte de Nuits were sharply reduced — what survived tends to be concentrated and finely drawn. Hudelot-Noëllat's approach is deliberately unshowy: ploughing rather than chemicals, wild yeasts, fermentation of the must in concrete for purity, and around eighteen months in barrel. The domaine's reputation rests on Romanée-Saint-Vivant and Richebourg, but merchants who follow it consistently single out the village wines as the place where the quality-to-price ratio is most obvious.

❤️ Why We Love It

• Village Vosne from a cellar that also makes Romanée-Saint-Vivant
• A frost vintage, so there was very little of it
• The most accessible way into this domaine

🍽️ Food Pairing Ideas

• Roast poultry and guinea fowl
• Mushrooms and root vegetables
• Soft washed-rind cheeses
