Podere La Vigna
Podere La Vigna is a small family-run estate in the hills northeast of Montalcino, founded as a wine project by Adriano Rubegni and Sonia Perugini at the end of the twentieth century. The first Brunello di Montalcino under the Podere La Vigna name was the 1996 vintage, though the property itself appears in the Leopoldine land registry as far back as 1850.
Today the estate works about seven hectares of vineyard, almost entirely planted to Sangiovese, and follows organic farming practices. The winery itself was built between 2008 and 2010, and the family still oversees the process directly from vineyard to bottle — very much a hands-on Montalcino operation rather than a giant Tuscan machine.
Our Podere La Vigna shelf is essentially a Brunello vertical: regular bottlings from 2007 through 2020, plus Riserva 2011, 2012 and 2016. If you enjoy seeing what Sangiovese does across very different growing seasons, this page is dangerously educational.
