Moccagatta

Moccagatta is a family estate in Barbaresco whose roots on the hill of the same name reach back to the mid-1800s, when the Minuto family became owners of the land. Luigi Minuto expanded the cellar in 1913, and in 1952 Mario Minuto founded the Moccagatta winery under the name that still appears on the family’s wines today.

From the 1970s onward, Franco and Sergio Minuto pushed the estate toward lower yields, meticulous vineyard work and more modern cellar equipment, while preserving a strong focus on the character of individual Barbaresco sites. Today, the next generation, Stefano and Martina, continues the family tradition.

The estate works vineyards in the heart of the Langa del Barbaresco, where clay- and limestone-rich Sant’Agata fossil marls shape wines of structure, perfume and longevity. Moccagatta’s Barbaresco range includes site-specific expressions such as Cole, Basarin and Bric Balin, each vinified to preserve the identity of its vineyard.
