Château Smith Haut Lafitte

Château Smith Haut Lafitte is a historic estate in Pessac-Léognan, with roots reaching back to the fourteenth century and a name shaped by the Smith family, who acquired the property in the eighteenth century.

Since Daniel and Florence Cathiard took over the estate in 1990, Smith Haut Lafitte has pursued a meticulous, estate-driven approach that combines traditional craftsmanship, precision winemaking and a deep commitment to biodiversity and sustainable viticulture.

The vineyard lies on the gravelly Günz terraces of Pessac-Léognan, where well-drained soils and carefully tended vines provide the foundation for the château’s distinctive red and white Bordeaux wines.
