Château Ducru-Beaucaillou
Château Ducru-Beaucaillou is one of the historic estates of Saint-Julien, rooted on the gravel terraces of the Médoc beside the Gironde estuary. Its story stretches back to 1720, and the property was elevated to Second Growth status in the Bordeaux Classification of 1855.
The château has been in the Borie family since 1942 and is today led by Bruno-Eugène Borie. Its name comes from the "beaux cailloux" — the quartz-rich Gunz gravel that defines the estate’s soils and gives the property its identity.
The family of wines includes the grand vin Château Ducru-Beaucaillou, La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou and Le Petit Ducru de Ducru-Beaucaillou. All three come from the estate’s Saint-Julien vineyards and share the same Cabernet-Merlot lineage, while each occupies its own place in the house style.
