Bosque de Matasnos

Bosque de Matasnos began in 2007 as an environmental recovery project in the Tierras Altas of Ribera del Duero, near Peñaranda de Duero in Burgos. Founder Jaime Postigo acquired the estate with the initial goal of restoring a landscape damaged by decades of intensive agriculture; the wine project grew from that work rather than the other way around.

The estate now combines 74 hectares of vineyard with a much larger Mediterranean woodland at roughly 950 meters of altitude. The forest, vineyard and winery are managed as one system: the estate generates its own solar energy, captures and treats its own water, composts its residues and works with manual harvesting and careful fruit selection. Tempranillo anchors the reds alongside varieties such as Merlot and Malbec.

Bosque de Matasnos is defined by the relationship between vineyard and forest, using high-altitude growing conditions and an integrated estate approach to shape its expression of Ribera del Duero.
