Bodegas Quitapenas

Bodegas Quitapenas was founded in Málaga in 1880 by Francisco Suárez Pineda. The family’s winegrowing history reaches further back: in 1825 Ramón Suárez and María Aguilar inherited vineyards in Cútar, in the Axarquía, where they cultivated vines, made wine and worked with raisins.

After phylloxera reached the Axarquía in 1878, Francisco Suárez Pineda moved with his family toward Málaga city and continued the wine business in El Palo. The house that became Bodegas Quitapenas grew from that move, and successive generations continued the family’s work with Málaga wine.

Today Bodegas Quitapenas remains closely identified with the wine culture of Málaga. The winery produces wines under the Málaga and Sierras de Málaga denominations, including white, red, sweet and sparkling styles, while its current winery and visitor facilities are located in the city of Málaga.
