Le Chambertin is the vineyard that gave its name to the whole village and, for many, the standard against which Gevrey is measured. Jadot's version is the softer, silkier counterpart to their Clos de Bèze — rich and sumptuous, but finished with real delicacy.

👃 Tasting Notes & Experience

Color: Deep, bright ruby
Nose: Berries, earth and fine oak, gaining musk and licorice with age
Palate: Rich and sumptuous, but carried with delicacy rather than weight
Structure: Silken texture over a firm 2013 tannic frame
Finish: Refined, complex and long

The two greatest Gevrey Grands Crus sit side by side, and the distinction between them is a matter of degree rather than kind: Clos de Bèze lies slightly higher on shallower soil and may legally be sold as Chambertin, while Chambertin may not borrow the Bèze name. Le Chambertin is generally the deeper and more plentiful of the pair, and in Jadot's hands it leans toward finesse. The 2013 season was erratic — cool, then stormy, with hail and heavy rain before a dry late run — producing a small crop and a vintage growers value for showing terroir without the distortions of heat or dilution.
