The domaine's only Gevrey vineyard, a 0.53-hectare slice of Latricières-Chambertin bought in 2008, in the vintage growers call a pure terroir year. This is also the transitional moment at Arnoux-Lachaux — Charles Lachaux had started making the wines but had not yet taken over the vines.

👃 Tasting Notes & Experience

Color: Bright, medium ruby

Palate: Juicy and silken, in the lighter register 2013 produced
Structure: Fine tannins with bright, carrying acidity
Finish: Long, fresh and mineral

2013 was an erratic season — cool, then hot with storms, then hail and heavy rain, then a dry late run — and picking was late off a small crop. Because nothing about it was excessive, growers came to describe it as the ultimate terroir vintage: no heat distortion, no dilution, just the site. Latricières, sitting immediately south of Le Chambertin, tends toward juiciness and silk rather than power, and that suits the year. This is also a fascinating bottle chronologically: Charles began making the wines in 2012 but only took the vineyards in 2015, so 2013 catches the domaine mid-transformation.
