Latricières-Chambertin is the domaine's only holding outside its Vosne-Romanée heartland — a 0.53-hectare parcel in Gevrey bought in 2008, making this one of the earliest vintages they ever produced from it. Latricières sits immediately south of Le Chambertin and gives the juicier, silkier reading of that great slope.

• Finish: Long and mineral
2010 is one of the most admired red Burgundy vintages of its decade — small yields, cool conditions and wines built on precision and structure rather than opulence. It is also very much a Pascal Lachaux wine: his son Charles did not begin making the wines until 2012 and took full charge of vineyards and cellar in 2015, so this bottle belongs to the domaine's classical era, before the whole-cluster, low-extraction shift that made the estate famous. That makes it an interesting counterpoint for anyone who has only drunk the recent releases.
