Domaine des Comtes Lafon

Domaine des Comtes Lafon has been in the Lafon family since 1865, and Meursault is very much the center of gravity. Dominique Lafon took over in 1985, building on roughly 14 hectares spread across Meursault, Volnay, Monthélie and Chassagne-Montrachet, including the domaine’s historic monopole Clos de la Barre.

The vineyard work became increasingly uncompromising under Dominique: synthetic products were eliminated in 1992, organic conversion began in 1995, and the estate became certified biodynamic in 1998. At the end of 2021, Dominique handed the reins to his daughter Léa and nephew Pierre, the fifth generation of the family.

Our Lafon shelf is basically a Meursault masterclass: Clos de la Barre, Clos de la Baronne, Désirée, Porusots, Genevrières, Charmes and Perrières, plus two vintages of Montrachet Grand Cru. If white Burgundy has ever convinced you that financial restraint is overrated, this page will not help.
